Knobbe Martens and 13 Individual Attorneys Recognized in LMG Life Sciences’ Annual Rankings
Knobbe Martens has again been recognized by Legal Media Group (LMG) as having one of the top life sciences intellectual property practices in the United States. In the esteemed publisher’s 2019 LMG Life Sciences rankings guide, the firm was awarded a “highly recommended” ranking in three categories: Patent Prosecution, Patent Strategy & Management, and Hatch-Waxman Patent Litigation (Generic); and a “recommended” ranking in General Patent Litigation.
Knobbe Martens was also recognized as Patent Strategy and Management Firm of the Year during the LMG Life Sciences awards dinner held September 18 in New York City.
In this year’s annual guide, the firm was commended by a client for having “done everything right” and praised as “a remarkable firm [with] spectacular work and people.”
In addition, 13 partners were named “Life Sciences Stars” in the annual ranking. They include: Dan Altman, Mike Fuller, Christy Lea, Sabing Lee, Joseph Mallon, Ph.D., Salima Merani, Ph.D., Kimberly Miller, Ph.D., Joseph Re, Joseph Reisman, Ph.D., John Sganga, Sheila Swaroop, Gerard von Hoffmann, and William Zimmerman. Among those whom LMG shared specific client feedback:
William Zimmerman, co-chair of the Hatch-Waxman and Life Sciences practice group, was deemed "great to work with" and a "very knowledgeable and wise counsel." Zimmerman was shortlisted by LMG this year for the Generic Hatch-Waxman Litigator of the Year award. Gerard von Hoffmann was described as the “go-to patent strategist for clients in the medical device industry. Dr. Salima Merani was praised as “amazing” for bringing to her practice an equal amount of scientific expertise and business savvy. She was shortlisted for LMG’s California Patent Strategy & Management Attorney of the Year award, an accolade she has won on two prior occasions. Partner Joseph Reisman was characterized as an "exceptional patent lawyer" and "top of the profession" by a client.
LMG bases its firm and individual rankings on three criteria: information provided by the law firms directly; feedback obtained through a “Practitioner Survey” as well as telephone or in-person interviews with myriad law firm attorneys in each category; and data obtained through a “Client Feedback Survey” and direct interview with firm clients.
