Three Knobbe Martens Partners Selected to the 2017 Washington D.C. Super Lawyers Lists

Knobbe Martens is pleased to announce that partners William R. Zimmerman, Jonathan E. Bachand, and Lincoln S. Essig from the Washington D.C. office have been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers’ 2017 Washington D.C. "Super Lawyers" and “Rising Stars” lists. Each year, five percent and 2.5% of attorneys in the District are selected to the “Super Lawyers” and “Rising Stars” list, respectively.

William R. Zimmerman, Managing Partner of the firm’s D.C. office, is selected for the third time as a “Super Lawyer” for his work in intellectual property litigation. Mr. Zimmerman represents clients in all aspects of intellectual property disputes, focusing primarily on patent cases at both the district court and appellate levels. Mr. Zimmerman has worked extensively in the area of pharmaceutical litigation, and is well-versed in the Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) process and the complexities of litigation involving pharmaceuticals under the Hatch-Waxman Act. He also has experience in obtaining and licensing pharmaceutical-related intellectual property.

Jonathan E. Bachand has been repeatedly selected for inclusion in the “Rising Stars" list for his work in intellectual property litigation. He represents various pharmaceutical and medical device clients in all areas of intellectual property law with an emphasis on representing generic drug makers in Hatch-Waxman litigation. Mr. Bachand also has experience representing both patent owners and petitioners before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in numerous inter partes review proceedings involving pharmaceutical, life science, and chemical processing patents.

Lincoln S. Essig is selected for the first time as an intellectual property “Rising Star”. His practice focuses on all aspects of patent prosecution, licensing, due diligence, and counseling. Mr. Essig helps businesses build valuable patent portfolios for inventions in the fields of medical devices, software, electronics, and information technology, and provides advice on patent infringement, validity, appeals, and portfolio strategy. His technical experience includes big data analytics, data storage and backup, healthcare IT, non-invasive patient monitoring, medical device guidance, prosthetics, consumer electronics, and advanced heating.
