Dan Gibson provides intellectual property counseling in various technologies. His technical experience includes computer software and hardware, video games, augmented and virtual reality, computer graphics processing, cloud computing architectures, e-commerce, medical devices, robotics, electromechanical and automotive technologies. He advises on patent prosecution and portfolio management, infringement and invalidity analyses, patent risk management, and IP due diligence and searches.
Dan seeks to thoroughly understand his client’s technology and their business and commercial agenda in order to develop the strategies they need to succeed in their marketspace. Dan advises on patents and portfolios with hundreds of patent families, navigating his clients through and beyond potential problem areas before such obstacles can become roadblocks to success. Dan’s clients include a “who’s who” of pioneering companies, such as Electronic Arts, Starbucks, Amazon, and Fisher and Paykel. He also represents a selection of smaller, emerging and fast-growth companies.
Prior to joining the firm, Dan worked as an engineer at National Instruments designing server and computer hardware. Dan’s experience as an engineer helps him to understand the complexities of research and development and better interface with engineers and inventors engaged in the patent process.
