Knobbe Martens Partner Salima Merani Named to Prestigious “Top 250 Women in IP” List by MIP

Knobbe Martens is pleased to share the news that Dr. Salima Merani, a partner in the firm’s Orange County office, has been recognized by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) magazine as one of the “Top 250 Women in IP” for 2018.

This prestigious annual list identifies female attorneys around the world who have performed exceptionally for their clients and firms in the past year. Research analysts gather information from thousands of firms, IP practitioners and their clients through interviews, emails and online surveys, and through additional independent research.

Dr. Merani, a graduate of McGill University and Berkeley Law, has nearly 18 years of experience in building strategic intellectual property portfolios for life sciences companies, including medtech, biotech and biopharma companies. She also has extensive experience conducting patent due diligence for investors, such as high profile venture capital firms. She provides a unique perspective to both investors and emerging growth companies with her wide-ranging experience in U.S. and international patent and trademark portfolio management, licensing, strategic offensive positioning, IPOs, acquisitions, and managing global patent risk.

Some of Dr. Merani’s additional awards and honors include recognition in the Daily Journal's list of the Top IP Attorneys in 2018 and designation as a 2018 IP Star by MIP. In 2017, Salima was named a "Life Science Star" in LMG “Life Sciences" survey for Intellectual Property and was specifically credited as "a vital part of our global strategy" by a key client. She was also honored in the 2017 "Patent 1000 Guide" by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) magazine, where she was recognized as a global leader in medical device patenting. Dr. Merani was also ranked in the 2017 "Chambers USA Guide" Life Sciences: Intellectual Property category by Chambers & Partners, where she was recognized as an exceptional strategic advisor. She was also named to The Recorder's "Women Leaders in Tech Law" list from 2014-2016 and recognized in 2016 by International Law Office (ILO) as the exclusive winner of the "Client Choice Award" in the Intellectual Property: Patents, California category.
