Knobbe Martens is pleased to announce that Managing Partner Steven Nataupsky and General Counsel Wendy Peterson have been named to the Orange County Business Journal’s inaugural OC500. The compendium, published November 14 as a special supplement to the newspaper, is comprised of “the most influential business people and opinion shapers in Orange County,” according to publisher Richard Reisman.

Mr. Nataupsky has led Knobbe Martens, the largest law firm in Orange County, as Managing Partner since 2005. He has overseen the firm’s continued growth to more than 300 attorneys and over 20 patent scientists while maintaining the collegial and collaborative culture that has been the firm’s hallmark since its founding in 1962. Mr. Nataupsky’s practice involves all aspects of intellectual property, including protecting inventions, trademarks, domain names, copyrights, and trade secrets, enforcing those rights against infringers, and defending clients against allegations of infringement. He has obtained numerous patents and trademark and copyright registrations in various fields, and tried several cases resulting in eight-digit jury verdicts in favor of his clients. Mr. Nataupsky has also served as an adjunct professor of Intellectual Property Law at the University of California-Irvine School of Law.

Ms. Peterson, who joined Knobbe Martens as its first General Counsel in 2002, handles all internal legal matters at the firm. Her achievements include overseeing the firm’s multi-million dollar acquisition of the high-rise office building in Irvine that houses its national headquarters, and playing a national role in the development of innovative loss prevention programs for intellectual property law firms. Active in the community, Ms. Peterson has served on the Boards of Directors of Human Options, a non-profit that provides emergency shelter and transition services to victims of domestic violence, and the Legal Aid Society of Orange County. She also is an active member of the American Heart Association’s Circle of Red, past chair of the Corporate Counsel Section of the Orange County Bar Association, and an elder at St. Mark Presbyterian Church. She also has spoken extensively on various legal topics, including diversity in the legal profession and legal ethics.
