Knobbe Martens Partners Recognized as Top Attorneys in San Diego County
Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP partners Ryan Melnick, Kerry Taylor and Boris Zelkind have been selected as Top Attorneys in San Diego County for their intellectual property law and litigation practices by the San Diego Daily Transcript. The Knobbe Martens’ finalists were selected from over 900 nominees who represent the best in San Diego’s legal community.
San Diego Daily Transcript’s Top Attorneys recognizes exceptional lawyers from 15 pre-selected practice areas by conducting a peer voting process to determine the best lawyers in private, corporate, academic and government practice in San Diego County in key categories. More than 900 nominations were received. The final published list recognizes the top 10 attorneys in each of the 15 categories, based on the number of peer votes they received.
Ryan Melnick’s expertise includes counseling on patent strategy, worldwide patent procurement, research and analysis of third-party patent positions, intellectual property opinions, due diligence and licensing. His practice focuses on obtaining patent protection and providing counsel to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies. Melnick’s experience spans all phases of the business life cycle, including multiple successes in helping companies obtain venture funding, entering into partnering deals, negotiating licenses, or achieving favorable exits (including mergers and acquisitions, asset divestiture, and public offerings).
Kerry Taylor helps clients protect intellectual property portfolio development and post-grant proceedings. He represents clients in the life sciences, pharmaceuticals and polymer chemistry industries. In particular, he is active in Inter Partes Review proceedings with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and in obtaining strategic U.S. and worldwide patents for his clients in various technologies including chemistry and biotechnology.
Boris Zelkind’s practice focuses on patent infringement litigation in the areas of medical devices, electronics, and tactical products. His litigation matters also include trademark and copyright infringement cases, as well as trade secret misappropriation disputes throughout the United States. Zelkind has an extensive appellate practice and has presented numerous oral arguments to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit as principal counsel of record. Zelkind is also a Lawyer Representative to the District Court for Southern District of California.
