Attorneys from Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP, one of the largest intellectual property firms in the United States, will be presenting “Magnifying Your IP IQ: Topics for the Savvy Intellectual Property Manager” at this year’s SPIE Photonics West conference on Tuesday, February 4, from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Presenting attorneys include Mark Gallagher, Lori Yamato, David Jankowski and Derek Bayles. The conference will be held at the Moscone Center, 747 Howard Street, San Francisco.

The course will cover a variety of topics of interest to those responsible for overseeing an intellectual property portfolio. The topics include: important concepts relating to patents including new “first to file” laws and patent filing and prosecution strategies, what to expect in IP due diligence, freedom to operate and legal opinions, non-disclosure, licensing, and other IP agreements, patent litigation both offensive and defensive, trademarks; and more. A basic familiarity with patents and intellectual property management issues is presumed.  The course is free.

Additionally, Knobbe Martens is a sponsor for this year’s Startup Challenge, a lively competition where new entrepreneurs in photonics will have just three minutes to pitch their business to a team of expert judges including Bruce Itchkawitz of Knobbe Martens. The top pitch presenter will go home with $10,000 cash and $5,000 worth of equipment.

Knobbe Martens will also have an exhibit booth (#4416) at the conference where attendees can receive more information about Knobbe Martens Optics Group’s legal services and general information about the firm. For more information and registration, please visit the SPIE Photonics West website.
