Overview
Zach Rufa is a member of the firm’s trademark group. Zach’s practice focuses on intellectual property disputes relating to trademark, trade secret, domain name, false advertising, and unfair competition matters, as well as all aspects of right of publicity and copyright law.
Zach takes a story-based approach to client advocacy. He understands that every client has a unique story to be told, and excels in telling those stories in ways that will most effectively support his clients in achieving their objectives.
Zach is an award-winning playwright and published author. Prior to attending law school, Zach worked for a NYC entertainment venue that was home to numerous entertainment and hospitality offerings, including a long-running and acclaimed Off-Broadway production.
Zach graduated from Brown University with double honors in Literary Arts and Theatre Arts & Performance Studies. While at Brown, Zach received the Robinson Potter Dunn Premium, a Karen T. Romer Undergraduate Teaching and Research Award, the Susan Ross Steinfeld ‘MVP’ Award, and a Royce Fellowship, which supported his independent research into the American freak show. Zach earned his M.F.A. in Playwriting from Brooklyn College, where he served as Editor in Chief of The Brooklyn Review and received a Himan Brown Award in Creative Writing. Zach earned his J.D. from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University with certificates in Trial Advocacy and Law, Science and Technology with a focus in Intellectual Property. Zach graduated law school early, cum laude, with Pro Bono distinction, a Dean’s Award, and multiple CALI Awards for the highest grade in a course. While in law school, Zach served as the inaugural Student Executive Director of The McCarthy Institute.
