Dozens of Knobbe Martens Partners and Practices Receive Standout Rankings from Legal 500

The firm and its partners were recognized for strengths across all areas of IP, including patent prosecution, trademarks, and patent litigation—including ITC litigation

IRVINE, Calif., June 17, 2024 – Knobbe Martens is proud to announce that the firm and dozens of its partners have been recognized as intellectual property leaders in the United States by Legal 500.

In the Legal 500 U.S.A. 2024 guide, the firm sustained a distinguished National Tier One recognition in IP Patent Prosecution, where the firm was praised as being “highly regarded for its ‘in-depth expertise and global experience.’” The guide also noted the firm’s strength in patent licensing and transactions across “the full spectrum of technologies, industry sectors and IP practice areas.”

Knobbe Martens also achieved national rankings in a number of other practice areas. The guide touted the firm’s “business-savvy” trademark litigation practice and highlighted the deep experience of the firm’s trademark team in non-contentious trademark matters, particularly across the “consumer products, food, financial services and high tech industries.”

The firm’s patent litigation team was praised for its depth of experience in “handling patent infringement disputes for a broad range of clients,” particularly in the biotech, medical device, and pharmaceutical spaces. Meanwhile, the firm was noted as a “Firm to Watch” in ITC Litigation, where its highly-publicized win on behalf of clients Masimo and Cercacor Laboratories in a patent infringement suit against Apple earlier this year garnered attention.

A number of individual lawyers at the firm were highlighted in the guide. Salima Merani, Ph.D., who last year was named to Legal 500’s “Hall of Fame,” was once again recognized as a “Leading Lawyer” alongside her medical device practice co-chair Sabing Lee and partner Harnik Shukla.

Additionally, numerous other firm partners—nearly three dozen across varied practices and industries—were recommended in the guide, including: William Adams, Maria Anderson, Jon Bachand, Matthew Bellinger, David Cohen, Michael Christensen, Jordan Gottdank, Jeremiah Helm, Brian Horne, Jonathan Hyman, Jason Jardine, Lauren Katzenellenbogen, Kregg Koch, Shannon Lam, Hans Mayer, Kimberly Miller, Steven Nataupsky, Susan Natland, Carol Pitzel Cruz, Ali Razai, Joseph Re, David Schmidt, Jessica Sganga, Brandon Smith, Maria Stout, Sheila Swaroop, Terry Tullis, Jeff Van Hoosear, Sabrina WangLynda Zadra-Symes, and William Zimmerman

The Legal 500 Series is widely acknowledged as the world’s largest legal referral guide. More than 300,000 buyers of legal services in over 150 jurisdictions are surveyed and interviewed globally each year. The Legal 500 is an independent guide, and firms and individuals are recommended purely on merit.
