Overview
Joshua Martineau is an associate in our New York Office. His practice includes patent procurement, patent portfolio management, and IP strategy.
Josh earned his J.D. at Brigham Young University. While at Brigham Young University, he had the opportunity to work in the BYU Law and Entrepreneurship Clinic, where he received the 2023 Distinguished Clinical Practice Award for exceptional commitment and dedication to clinical practice. Through the clinic, Josh assisted local inventors and entrepreneurs to understand and begin the patenting process. Josh also conducted research and presented on the effect of free licensing of patents on subsequent innovation through a case study on foundational gene editing patents.
Prior to law school, Josh earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.S. in Chemistry at the University of Utah, where he also performed soft particle assembly research as part of a team working to improve the extraction process for Albertan Athabasca oil sands.
Josh is a founding member of BYU Law’s “Dawn Patrol” backcountry skiing group, and is fluent in the Indonesian language.
