Shannon Lam

Shannon focuses on developing and implementing sophisticated patent strategies that advance her clients’ business goals. She advises on global patent portfolio management and procurement, IP due diligence, competitive landscape analysis, and IP-centric agreements. Whether clients are seeking investment, preparing for acquisition, or enforcing patent rights, Shannon provides strategic guidance aligned with each stage of a company’s lifecycle. She is known for her practical and creative approach to patent law, as well as her clear and effective communication with a broad range of stakeholders.

Shannon represents clients ranging from fast-growth emerging companies to major corporations across a variety of industries, including medical device, food and beverage, and consumer products.

Within the medical device industry, Shannon has deep experience advising companies developing cardiovascular, orthopedic, and ophthalmic technologies. She has been involved in the intellectual property strategy and acquisitions of Tornier/Wright Medical (acquired by Stryker), AcuFocus (acquired by Bausch + Lomb), and HealthpointCapital’s acquisition of SteriCUBE. She also represents medical device companies in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

In addition to her medical device practice, Shannon manages global patent portfolios for Fortune 500 companies in the food and beverage and consumer products industries. She provides strategic IP counseling on patent procurement, enforcement, and transactions in which intellectual property assets are central.

Shannon was named a “Life Science Star” in the Legal Media Group (LMG) Life Sciences Guide (2025) and recognized as a “Rising Star” on the 2026 Southern California Super Lawyers list.

Shannon leads Knobbe’s Women’s Affinity Group and previously served as Chair of the firm’s Mentor Committee.
