Overview
Ryan Newell’s practice includes IP strategy, patent prosecution, IP due diligence, and Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) inter partes review (IPR) proceedings. Ryan primarily represents clients in the fields of medical devices, healthcare, and biotechnology.
Ryan supported the acquisition of SteriCUBE Holdings, Inc. by HealthpointCapital and subsequently represented SteriCUBE on its patent portfolio relating to simultaneous sterilization of instrument-holding trays.
Ryan was twice awarded the Patent Pro Bono Achievement Certificate by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and was recognized as part of the Federal Bar Association’s 2024 Step Up Pro Bono Challenge.
During law school, Ryan served as President of the Intellectual Property Law Society. He also worked with an advanced materials startup, organizing and advancing their patent portfolio. As an undergraduate, he collaborated with surgeons, medical students, and biomedical engineers to design, build, and operate a testing platform for novel ACL repair techniques.
