Knobbe Martens partner Mauricio Uribe was quoted by World IP Review in the article “Artistic license: can copyright rein in generative AI?,” part II of a series discussing art and AI, that examines lawsuits against developers of generative AI.
Speaking on whether existing law will be applicable to questions posed by AI, Uribe said, “there is nothing unique to AI-based implementations that would suggest that existing statutory and legal doctrines would expressly allow for such unauthorized use, and otherwise inhibit a rightful IP owner from accessing the available forms of damages or equitable relief.”
