Overview
Kim focuses her intellectual property practice on patent litigation.
Before joining Knobbe Martens, Kim worked for the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA).
At Caltech, Kim helped lead interdisciplinary research teams in writing successful grant proposals and peer-reviewed articles across technical fields including light-driven chemical reactions, surface nanopatterning, energy storage, and protein engineering.
At IDA, Kim applied her technical skills to questions of national security and defense. Kim’s work at IDA included developing computer simulations of airborne surveillance systems, evaluating atmospheric dispersion models, and assessing technologies for use in stand-off detection of explosives.
Through her experience with diverse technologies in varied business contexts, Kim developed a valuable perspective on the risks and opportunities that arise where science, technology, and business intersect with legal and regulatory frameworks. Kim’s love of learning and interest in the intersection of science with law drove her to attend law school.
