Cheryl Burgess Selected as a 2023 Winner of “Veteran Leadership Award” by Profiles In Diversity Journal

IRVINE, Calif. October 3, 2023 – Knobbe Martens is pleased to announce that partner Cheryl Burgess has been selected as a winner of Profiles in Diversity Journal’s inaugural “Veteran Leadership Awards.” 

The Profiles in Diversity Journal® is a quarterly publication dedicated to promoting and advancing diversity, inclusion, and equity in the corporate, government, nonprofit, STEM, and higher education sectors. The inaugural “Veteran Leadership Awards” honor individuals who stand out for their dedication to work, community and their fellow veterans.

Ms. Burgess is a litigation partner at Knobbe Martens with a military background. With nearly eight years of service in the United States Air Force, she brings a unique blend of skills, discipline, and dedication to her legal practice. Ms. Burgess is a respected leader and mentor within the firm, serving on various committees and taking on leadership roles within the firm.

“My tenure of over seven years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force played a pivotal role in shaping and honing the beneficial skills and leadership qualities that I now employ every day in my legal career,” Ms. Burgess stated in her profile. “The invaluable lessons and experiences I gained during my service have not only enriched my professional journey but also positioned me as a highly competent and effective legal professional.”

Ms. Burgess is heavily involved in the broader legal community. She has been honored with the Federal Circuit Bar Association’s George Hutchinson Committee Award twice for her exceptional service, including her contributions as chair of the Mock Argument Committee. She holds a significant role as President of the Orange County Markey Inn of Court, an organization dedicated to upholding the standards of the legal profession, practicing law with dignity and respect, and encouraging respect for our system of justice.  She also serves as a North American Regional Forum (NARF) Officer of the International Bar Association (IBA). Through the IBA, she promotes an international perspective on the practice of law and fosters collaboration among leading legal practitioners worldwide.
