Dr. Merani, co-chair of the firm’s medical device practice, continues to be recognized nationally and internationally for her legal accomplishments, particularly in the life sciences industry. With a doctorate in neuroscience, she has 23 years of experience in building patent portfolios for life sciences companies and is a go-to lawyer for healthcare companies that are bringing innovative and life-saving developments to market. Dr. Merani has been the lead IP lawyer in successful acquisitions and licensing deals worth several billion dollars. Most recently, she received the “Life Sciences Lawyer of the Year” award at the 2023 Americas Women in Business Law Awards by Euromoney Legal Media Group (LMG) and has been repeatedly selected by LMG as an “IP Star”. She was also named a “Top 250 Women in IP” globally by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) and has been consistently ranked by Chambers. Dr. Merani is a graduate of McGill University and The University of California, Berkeley, School of Law.
