Excerpt: The rulings seem likely to renew interest within the medtech industry for legislative changes to the IPR process. But the process may be a slow one, Irfan Lateef, a partner with Knobbe Martens, cautions. “Congress enacted AIA, and this is a confirmation of their ability to manage patent matters,” he said. “There may be some lobbying to get rid of the system, but that’ll take a long time. It might be years of efforts to get Congress focused on patents again and do away with a procedure which has a strong lobby backing it.”
