Akhtar has a long list of influential clients, both domestic and international, including among many others Analog Devices, Micron Technology and ASM International. Akhtar has extensive experience in intellectual property protection for high technology industries such as software, data processing and electronic devices, with a particular expertise in semiconductor fabrication, equipment and packaging. He also represents a number of clients in a broad range of other technologies, such as industrial chemicals, agricultural machinery, temperature control systems, drug delivery platforms, water purification, seismic reinforcement, sporting equipment, web services and a variety of other fields. For example, Akhtar drafted and prosecuted several significant patents for Oakley, Inc. which have withstood the test of litigation against Nike, Inc. and a number of other major players in the sunglass manufacturing business.
In addition to his heavy caseload, Akhtar has served as the firm’s recruiting representative at his alma mater, Harvard Law School. Akhtar attended Harvard Law from 1991 to 1994 after moving to the U.S. from Nova Scotia, Canada, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Dalhousie University, cum laude.
“Power List” honorees are chosen as a result of a multi-level process executed by the LOC selection committee, comprised of LOC staff and professional advisors.
