Geetha Durairaj, Ph.D.
Geetha’s practice focuses on patent prosecution in the biotechnology and life science industries. She currently represents clients in a wide range of technology areas including gene therapy, cancer therapeutics and other oncology pharmaceuticals, therapeutic antibodies, dietary supplements, diagnostic devices and assays and cosmetics.
Geetha graduated from the University of California, Irvine School of Law. Prior to law school, Geetha earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where she focused her research on understanding the regulatory mechanisms of transcription coupled mRNA export. Geetha also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Irvine, where she was involved in screening small molecules for cancer therapy. Geetha’s technical experience includes employing Crispr-Cas9 mediated genetic disruptions of tumor suppressor genes as a tool to study small molecule driven tumor regression in mice, antisense RNA based gene regulation, vector design, cloning, expression and purification of proteins, RT-PCR, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and chromatin immunoprecipitation. A list of her scientific publications can be found here.
