Overview
Edward Nester advises clients on patent litigation and prosecution, applying experience across medical device technologies and computer science.
During law school, Edward worked as a legal intern at a large medical device company, gaining valuable insight into the role that in-house counsel plays in advising clients on global portfolio management and strategy. While there, Edward learned about aspects of medical device manufacturing including scalability and operability, specifically as it pertains to integrating bioengineered materials into implanted devices. Edward was actively involved in the UCI Law Mock Trial Competition Team and served as President during his final year. He worked in the Intellectual Property, Arts, and Technology Law Clinic, advising clients on IP issues primarily concerning the First Amendment. As a research assistant, Edward contributed to research on digital privacy and tort liability under section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.
During his time at the University of Utah, he participated in the University’s BioDesign program as part of a senior capstone project, gaining experience in medical device development and exposure to regulatory compliance. Edward also studied techniques involving 3D printing, diffusion tomography, and tissue engineering involving biomaterials in wound repair.
