Sheila Swaroop and Michael Friedland, partners and co-chairs of the firm’s litigation practice group, were featured in Am Law’s “Litigation Leaders,” a profile series highlighting leaders of litigation practices of major law firms.
Friedland and Swaroop discussed an array of topics, including their respective backgrounds, the bench strength of the firm’s talented litigation group, and recent litigation successes. On the subject of their leadership philosophy and how they share the work, Friedland commented, “We have an incredible group of litigation partners that know how to prepare their cases for trial and don’t need to be led. I think my most important role is to bring all of them together so that they can share best practices, learn from each other, mentor each other.”
Commenting on the firm’s talent recruitment and development strategy, Swaroop said, “We believe strongly in giving younger lawyers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience very early on, and we have a shorter partnership track—six years—than most other firm[s].”
