The primary focus of the site is to provide an online clearinghouse for various resources needed by every medical device startup company. Established companies and repeat founders often have their contacts fully identified. However, many first time founders and young companies must go through the inefficient process of inventing their own network.
“Whether you need prototyping, design or intellectual property law services, you need vendors with specific experience within the medical device industry,” said Gerard von Hoffmann, who leads the team which created KnobbeMedical.com “Entrepreneurs encounter enough obstacles en route to launching a startup. Spending valuable time researching what they need to know and where to find it should not be one of them.”
Von Hoffmann, who is a partner at the intellectual property law firm Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP, says the site is currently working to build the depth of its content. A variety of plans for expansion are under evaluation. “We’ll be looking to the viewers to contact us and provide input on how best to improve the site. We welcome businesses who support medical device companies to let us know if they would like to be linked on the site.”
