On Wednesday, May 4, Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP hosted the Cross-Country Women in IP Networking Dinner in San Diego. Sponsored by the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), Knobbe Martens’ dinner was one of twenty-five dinners held simultaneously across the United States and Canada.
The dinner, which provides female intellectual property law attorneys an opportunity to meet with other women for an evening of mentoring, networking and education, was attended by more than 30 attorneys from companies including DexCom, Inc., Fate Therapeutics, Inc., CareFusion, Cytori Therapeutics, QUALCOMM, Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Life Technologies, Cassidian Communications, GenProbe, and Obalon Therapeutics, Inc.
Katherine Umpleby, Vice President, Chief Patent Counsel for Qualcomm, was the featured guest speaker at the Knobbe Martens dinner. Umpleby discussed her career which included three years as an attorney at Knobbe Martens, her current role as Chief Patent Counsel at Qualcomm, and shared advice based on her personal career experiences.
