On Tuesday, September 20, Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP will host an America Invents Act briefing breakfast in their Orange County office located at 2040 Main Street, Irvine, CA.
The event will begin with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. with the one hour discussion from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. The discussion will focus on the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act (AIA) which introduces significant changes to the U.S. patent system. Some of the more significant changes include moving from a “first to invent” to a “first to file” system and providing more comprehensive options for post-issuance reconsideration of a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Knobbe Martens attorneys, Steve Jensen, Robert Roby, Kerry Taylor, and Joe Cianfrani, will discuss how and why this legislation was enacted, the substantive provisions of the AIA and the potential impact of the AIA on patent prosecution and litigation strategies. 1 hour MCLE credit is available for attorneys.
