Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear, LLP associate Tom Cowan has been named by JD Supra as a “JD Supra Top Author” in the publisher’s first annual 2016 “Readers' Choice Awards”.
Cowan is among just 200 authors selected by JD Supra for the honor from more than 34,000 authors who published articles on the platform in 2015. He was chosen for the high level of visibility and engagement he attained with readers in the medical device industry, one of 36 categories the Awards recognized. Cowan authored six articles on JD Supra in 2015, including popular pieces on IP issues with collaborative innovation, IP considerations for startup entrepreneurs (co-author) and medical device trade group opposition to the Innovation Act. In addition to a law degree, Cowan holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and a master’s degree in biomedical engineering, with a minor in Chinese. His law practice focuses on patent prosecution and counseling in the mechanical, aerospace and medical device spaces. He joined Knobbe Martens in 2013 out of law school and works in its San Diego office.
