In a Q&A published as part of Corporate Counsel’s 2024 “Women, Influence & Power in Law” (WIPL) awards, partner Sheila Swaroop shared her approach to litigation and leadership that she has developed throughout her career.
Ms. Swaroop, chair of the firm’s litigation practice, was recognized in the “Thought Leadership” category of the WIPL awards, dedicated to women who lead a successful team and “focus on how true leadership can change the world.”
Ms. Swaroop described how her career has allowed her to work with many clients in the medical device industry who are serving an important purpose. “[I]t has been rewarding to represent clients in defending their innovations so that they can continue their mission of improving patient care and outcomes,” she said.
When it comes to her leadership style, Ms. Swaroop said, “I have found that effective leaders are those who are authentic, transparent, and receptive to feedback,” and recognizes that “litigation is a team effort,” particularly for complex technology cases.
