Anna Hankal is an associate in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Anna's practice focuses on patent prosecution in the areas of software, computing, analytics, and artificial intelligence.
Anna received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. While at Michigan, Anna was a clinical student at Michigan Law’s Zell Entrepreneurship Clinic, where she worked with Detroit technology startups drafting patents and trademarks and counseling clients on matters of entity formation, contracts, financing, and deal-making. Anna also externed in Los Angeles for the Eviction Defense Project with Bet Tzedek and served as a housing law clerk with Stay Housed LA.
Before attending law school, Anna worked as a software consultant focused on data and analytics, working with clients in the automotive, insurance, and government sectors. During this time, she worked with the local government in Puerto Rico to deliver financial transparency for FEMA funding in the wake of hurricanes Irma and Maria. She then pursued her interest in technology startups and sustainable fashion while working at Rent the Runway. At Rent the Runway, she assisted with the company’s IPO and worked on the Creative team to deliver brand campaigns and editorial across the company’s platforms.
Anna joined the firm in 2023 and maintains an active pro-bono practice.
