Joseph Re received “Litigation Star” rankings for the successful jury verdicts and settlements he obtained over the past decade for longtime client Masimo Corporation. Those efforts culminated with a complete settlement of all outstanding litigation with Philips Electronics North American and its European affiliate. As a result, Masimo entered into a multi-year business partnership with Philips, which increases the availability of Masimo’s groundbreaking pulse-oximetry technology in Philips products. The settlement also included a $300 million lump sum payment to Masimo.
John Sganga was recognized for leading a trial team that convinced a federal jury in Boston to award client Edwards Lifesciences CardiAQ $70 million for trade secret misappropriation in 2014 against its former service provider, Neovasc. Post-trial, the court awarded CardiAQ $21 million in enhanced damages and over $20 million in pre-judgment interest. Most recently in September 2017, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed the total $112 million judgment for CardiAQ, denying Neovasc’s request for a new trial.
