Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP has been named by Managing IP magazine as one of the top 10 firms in the world for international Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) filings. In the magazine’s 2015 “PCT Survey”, which ranks the top PCT filers in the major patenting jurisdictions and worldwide, Knobbe Martens ranked eighth internationally. The firm ranked fourth among all law firms in the United States.
Firms were ranked according to the number of PCT applications they filed that were due for national stage entry during 2015, as published on the World Intellectual Property Organization’s website. The PCT is an international patent law treaty that provides a unified procedure for filing patent applications. Under the PCT, inventors can file a single international patent application in one language with one patent office in order to preserve the option to protect an invention in PCT member countries. A high number of PCT filings indicates that the firm works with companies that sell products internationally. Managing IP’s 2015 PCT Survey Rankings and methodology can be found here.
