Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear, LLP is pleased to announce that litigation partner Joseph Re has been selected by Law360 as an “Icon of IP.” Re will be recognized, along with other prominent attorneys who have significantly impacted intellectual property law over their law careers, in a series of profiles that will run over several months.
Re is a nationally recognized trial and appellate attorney known for handling high-stakes patent cases throughout the country. In 2014, he led a Knobbe Martens trial team to one of the most significant intellectual property victories that year, winning a $466 million infringement verdict for medical monitoring company Masimo Corp. against Philips Electronics North America Corp. and Philips Medizin Systeme Boblingen GmbH. The jury also rejected Philips’ infringement claims for $169 million. In 2015, Re was named a “Game Changer” by The Recorder for winning an appeal for medical device company AccessClosure Inc. – helping AccessClosure’s investors to sell the company.
Re, a partner in Knobbe Martens’ Orange County office, has also been named one of last year’s 20 “Winning Litigators” by The National Law Journal; one of the Top 25 Lawyers in Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Lawyers in America 2014-2015”; one of the Top 75 Intellectual Property Litigators in the Daily Journal’s “Top Intellectual Property Lawyers in California”; and one of the 25 Intellectual Property “MVPs of the Year” by Law360.
Law360 published Re’s profile article as part of the “Icons of IP” collection on May 27, 2016. Access a copy of the article below.
