IRVINE, Calif. November 15, 2022 – Knobbe Martens is pleased to share that partner Jessica Achtsam has again been named to serve on the Orange County Women Lawyers Association (OCWLA) 2023 Board of Directors, a role she has held since 2018.
The OCWLA is dedicated to advancing women in the legal profession by providing a professional network, raising awareness of discrimination and bias, and supporting charitable organizations. Throughout her time as member of the Board of Directors, Ms. Achtsam has served as the co-chair of the OCWLA’s Philanthropy committee, chair of its Website committee, and been an active member of its Membership and Awards committee.
Commenting on her appointment, Ms. Achtsam said, “Being on the board of OCWLA gives me the chance to continue the great work done to advance women in the legal field, to find ways to tackle the tough issues women face in the workplace, to provide avenues for women to expand their professional network, and to find new opportunities to support charitable causes and organizations.”
Within the firm, Ms. Achtsam dedicates her time to mentoring younger lawyers by sitting on the firm’s Mentor, Attorney Recruiting and International Internship committees. She previously served as a leader for the firm’s Women Associate Advisory Committee, where she mentored women associates at the firm and organized events to build community within the group.
Beyond her work with the OCWLA, outside of the firm Ms. Achtsam is involved in Human Options Sisterhood events, supporting domestic violence shelters and resources for victims of domestic violence. Additionally, she represents clients through Human Options on a pro-bono immigration case.
Throughout her career Ms. Achtsam has received a number of accolades, most recently by the Orange County Coalition for Diversity in the Law at their 2022 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Awards as a “Top 10 Young Lawyer of OC.” (Learn more here.)
