Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP has once again been ranked as one of the leading firms for Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) filings according to a survey published by Managing IP magazine. Knobbe Martens was ranked 4th among all firms in the United States.
The Managing IP rankings are based on the number of PCT applications the firm filed that were due for national stage entry during 2011, as published on the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) website.
The PCT is an international patent law treaty that provides a unified procedure for filing patent applications. Under the PCT, inventors can file a single international patent application in one language with one patent office in order to simultaneously preserve protection for an invention in the PCT member countries. A high number of PCT filings indicate that the firm works with companies that sell products internationally. The 2011 PCT Survey Rankings and methodology can be found at www.managingip.com
