Attorneys from Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP, one of the largest intellectual property firms in the United States, will be presenting “Magnifying Your IP IQ: Topics for the Savvy Intellectual Property Manager” at this year’s SPIE Photonics West conference on Tuesday, February 10, from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Presenting attorneys include Mark Gallagher, Ph.D., Lori Yamato, David Jankowski, Ph.D. and Derek R. The course will cover a variety of topics of interest to those responsible for overseeing an intellectual property portfolio. The program focuses on patents, trade secrets, licensing and other agreements, as well as litigation. Example topics include: when should I file for a patent and what value can a patent provide, key provisions of non-disclosure and licensing agreements, what to know when dealing with venture capitalists and other prospective investors who are interested knowing about my company’s patents and patent position, dealing with third party patents, selection and protection of trademarks, how to prepare for offensive or defensive patent litigation, and more. A basic familiarity with patents and intellectual property management issues is presumed. The course is free.
