Excerpt: Business leaders in various industries share many of the same goals: developing their companies’ brand, expanding their customer base, and protecting/growing revenue. However, many business leaders may not fully appreciate how developing and protecting their companies’ intellectual property (IP) is essential to reaching these goals. Even some business leaders who understand the need for IP may not know how to create and implement policies that maximize the value of their companies’ IP. Here are five general recommendations for business leaders in developing and implementing an effective IP policy.
