Overview
Neil S. Bartfeld is a patent scientist in our San Diego office. He specializes in the preparation and prosecution of patents in the life sciences, with an emphasis in biochemistry and molecular biology. Dr. Bartfeld has technical experience in the areas of biochemistry, enzymology, molecular biology, peptide/protein biochemistry, protein purification, cDNA cloning, nucleic acid amplification, nutritional supplements and immunology.
Dr. Bartfeld received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona, where his research related to the isolation, characterization and cDNA cloning of an iron-binding protein. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow for The Scripps research Institute, where he studied endothelial cell protein kinases. He was also a postdoctoral fellow at the R.W. Johnson Pharmaceutical Research Institute where he studied growth factor-mediated tyrosine phosphorylation of cell adhesion proteins.
From 1993-2000, Dr. Bartfeld was a patent scientist in the San Diego office of Knobbe Martens. Subsequently, he was a patent agent at IONIS Pharmaceuticals and Invitrogen Corporation. Dr. Bartfeld re-joined the firm in 2005 as a patent scientist.
