General Summary: Leading intellectual property law firm Knobbe Martens is seeking an organized and results-driven professional to join our Business Development team in an Assistant role. In this key position, you will provide critical budgetary, administrative, and project assistance to support a variety of business development and communications activities. Leveraging your strong MS Office skills, you will serve as a liaison with the firm’s Finance team while also working closely with individual partners and professionals across the Business Development team and firm. This is a new position on the team, with an opportunity to grow in and build on the role.
Responsibilities:
- As a front-end person the Business Development Assistant must provide excellent customer service.
- Track and manage the usage of individual partner business development budgets and the business development department’s budget, liaising with the Finance team as appropriate. Coordinate with the Finance team to provide reports as assigned.
- Assist in preparing the annual firmwide marketing and business development budget, liaising with partners and practice group leaders, the Finance team, the Business Development Committee, and Business Development team colleagues as appropriate.
- Process department bills (generate check requests, mail payments, maintain documentation in project folders and other related files).
- Assist on firmwide business development projects, including the production and tracking of pitch materials, biography edits, marketing collateral, and related materials.
- Assist the Department with adding and/or updating client matters and successes into the firm experience database.
- Coordinate with the team to maintain a database inventory of all marketing materials available.
- Assist in firm-sponsored event coordination and logistics, including research for client seminars and client events, registration tracking, and other related support.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- College degree or 2-3 years of related experience required.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal relations, and written and oral communications skills required.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Strong customer service attitude; team player.
- Works well under pressure and has strong attention to detail.
- Ability to coordinate many issues/projects at once.
Base salary for this position is $55,000 to $70,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
Supervisor’s Title: Director of Business and Practice Development
Status: Non-Exempt, Full-time
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Hybrid option available. This position depends upon the ability of the employee to work closely with attorneys and staff members during regular scheduled hours. This position requires the ability to work overtime, which often cannot be predicted in advance.
