Overview
Dr. Hossein-Zadeh is a primary patent scientist in the firm’s Orange County office and has strong background and technical experience in physics (solid state physics, optics, nonlinear optics, quantum physics), electrical engineering (microelectronics, semiconductors devices, optoelectronics and photonic devices, RF and microwave devices and systems), physical sensors, and biosensors (photonic, electronic, and electromechanical, and ultrasonic sensors).
Mani has written and successfully prosecuted patents relating to semiconductor devices, semiconductor manufacturing, electronic circuits, LIDARs, RADARs, lasers, optoelectronic devices, augmented and virtual reality devices and systems, acoustic systems and devices, ultrasonic sensors, quantum computing devices and systems, autonomous driving systems, optical imaging devices and systems, and therapeutic ultrasonic systems. Clients appreciate his real-world research and engineering experience, broad and in-depth knowledge in several disciplines, and ability to capture the key aspects of abstract and complex innovations and distilling them into simple and understandable concepts.
Mani has over 20 years of research experience in optics, electro-optics, microwave- photonics, photonic, and acoustic sensors. He has authored more than 50 papers in peer reviewed journals and presented more than 50 papers in major conferences in optics and photonics (CLEO, SPIE, IEEE Photonics).
Prior to joining the Knobbe, Dr. Hossein-Zadeh was a tenured associate professor of electrical engineering and optical engineering at the University of New Mexico where he led his research group for 12 years. Mani also worked as senior scientist for Intelligent Optical Systems where he worked on developing novel opto-chemical and acousto-optical sensors. He was the principal investigator of several research grants, and he is the recipient of National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER award. Mani has served as reviewer for more than 20 major research journals and conferences, and several NSF proposal review panels. He holds 7 US patents and is a senior member of IEEE and OSA.
