Knobbe Martens Ranks Among Top 20 for Diversity Among U.S. Law Firms

Knobbe Martens has once again been recognized for its commitment to cultivating a diverse team of highly-skilled lawyers in the release of The American Lawyer’s 2021 Diversity Scorecard. The firm was ranked among the top 20 out of 225 total U.S. firms, with nearly half (47.2%) of its attorneys identifying as Asian-American, Black, Latino or Hispanic, Native American, or multiracial – up from 42.7 percent in 2020.

“Knobbe Martens is proud to foster an environment where attorneys of any race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and religion can thrive,” said Managing Partner Steven Nataupsky. “The diverse backgrounds and identities of our attorneys – who speak more than 20 languages – not only benefit the internal dynamics of the firm, but allow us to better serve our worldwide clients. We are pleased to again be named one of the most diverse firms in the United States by The American Lawyer, and will continue to take action to attract, retain and promote diverse talent.”

The annual Diversity Scorecard is determined by analyzing data about the number of full-time equivalent attorneys – including equity and non-equity partners, associates, and others – at the nation’s largest and highest grossing law firms as ranked by The American Lawyer and The National Law Journal. You can view the complete rankings here.

Knobbe Martens promotes diversity, equity and inclusion through active outreach and recruitment as well as through internal programming that aims to support the needs and goals of every diverse attorney. The firm’s 1L Diversity Scholarship Program brings first-year law students to the firm as paid Summer Associates and provides them with grants.
