| Christy Lea

On April 19, 2018, Knobbe Martens hosted the eleventh annual AIPLA Women in IP Global Networking event, which brought together almost 50 women intellectual property attorneys and executives at the firm’s Orange County office to share their experiences and insights. An American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) event, the dinner was one of 60 held on this date around the world.

Knobbe’s dinner featured guest speaker Aimee Weisner, Corporate Vice President and General Counsel of Edwards Lifesciences. Keeping with the theme, Empowered Women Empower Women, Ms. Weisner shared valuable lessons of hard work and perseverance learned from her childhood and described how they impacted the development of her remarkable career. In particular, Ms. Weisner emphasized the value of accepting new challenges and the importance of supporting other women to help one another succeed. The dinner concluded with a Favorite Things Raffle hosted by Xact Data Discovery. Attendees included in-house counsel and executives from Edwards Lifesciences, Kavo Kerr, Mobilitie, Glaukos Corporation, Johnson & Johnson Surgical Division, The Innovation Institute, Fox Group, Asics, and Allergan, among others.

“As a firm that continually strives to increase the representation of women in the IP field and support its female attorneys as they build successful and fulfilling careers, it’s always an honor for Knobbe Martens to host the Women in IP Networking dinner,” said Christy Lea, a partner and co-chair of the firm’s Medical Device Litigation Group. “Each year, our goal is to provide a venue for women IP attorneys to connect and share ideas and insight, with the hope that every woman leaves with valuable new contacts, resources, and inspiration.”
