Knobbe Martens Partner Steven Ruden, Ph.D. Appointed to Chapman University Fowler School of Law’s Board of Advisors

Steven Ruden, a partner at Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP’s Orange County office, was appointed to the Chapman University Fowler School of Law Board of Advisors this week. Ruden is the first graduate of the law school to serve on the Board and was the recipient of the first annual Chapman Law Alumnus of the Year in 2011.

Ruden has experience with patent prosecution and patent portfolio management for a variety of technologies including lasers, MEMS displays, optical systems, laser microprocessing with ultra-short laser pulses, satellites, e-commerce, computer software and financial indices and funds.

Prior to joining Knobbe Martens in 2005, Ruden was an associate professor of physics and astronomy at the University of California, Irvine. Under grants from NASA and the National Science Foundation, he performed complex computer simulations of astrophysical fluid dynamics and the origin of planetary systems. He also served on the NASA advisory subcommittee that recommended the strategic plan for scientific program development, technological objectives and space science mission goals of the Astronomical Search for Origins and Planetary Systems program.
