Three Knobbe Martens Attorneys Named Top IP Attorneys

| Joseph R. Re

Joseph Re, John Sganga and John M. Carson, of Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP, have been included in The Daily Journal's 2009 Top IP Attorney list. The list includes California-based lawyers whose work during the previous year has impacted the world of intellectual property. The list was published in the April 8 intellectual property supplement of the San Francisco and Los Angeles editions of The Daily Journal.

Partner in the firm's Orange County office, Re was recognized for his work in patent trials and appeals to the Federal Circuit for his medical-device clients. He serves as the President of the Federal Circuit Bar Association and on various committees of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.

Sganga, also a litigator in Orange County, was included for his efforts in enforcing a patent portfolio covering clean engine technology. This technology has been instrumental in enabling engine makers to meet increasingly stringent EPA emission standards. Globally, this has been part of a larger trend, as "clean diesel" technology has quickly spread across the US and Europe. Sganga is a partner in the firm's Orange County office.

A partner in Knobbe Martens' San Diego office, Carson was recognized for his management of noteworthy patent portfolios involving hundreds of patents and applications for major companies worldwide. Some patents were for flat panel displays and nanotechnology processes for semiconductors. Additionally, he has been lead defense counsel for a U.S. patent reexamination involving over 30 lawsuits and nearly 100 licensees. John Carson is also the 2009 President of International Technology Law Association (ITechLaw).

Knobbe Martens represents clients in all areas of intellectual property law. More information about the firm can be found at knobbe.com.
