Knobbe Martens Partner Eli Loots, Ph.D., Named 2014 Northern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine
Eli Loots, Ph.D., a partner in Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP’s San Francisco office, has been named to the 2014 Northern California Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers magazine for his intellectual property practice. The Rising Stars list includes the top 2.5 percent of attorneys in the region who are age 40 or younger and/or have been in practice for less than ten years.
Loots' practice focuses on client counseling, opinion and due diligence work, and patent preparation and prosecution in the chemical and molecular biology arts. He assists startup companies in developing their core IP portfolios. Dr. Loots also assists fortune 500 companies with managing and developing strategies for their key technologies.
Dr. Loots obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from U.C. Berkeley, with an emphasis on neuroscience and biophysics. His research focused on the structure/function relationship of ion channel gating and involved engineering various ion channels so that fluorescent probes could be attached to observe the structural rearrangements of the ion channel as it passed through its various states. Dr. Loots attended U.C. Berkeley School of Law for his law degree and has a B.S. in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Arkansas.
