| Maria Anderson

On May 23, 2013, Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP hosted the 2013 American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Cross-Country Women in IP Networking Event in Seattle. Sponsored by AIPLA, Knobbe Martens’ dinner was one of twenty-six dinners held simultaneously across the United States and Canada. Over forty female attorneys and executives gathered in Knobbe Martens’ Seattle office to share their experience and insights. The theme for the complimentary dinner was Mentor and Be Mentored.

The Knobbe-sponsored Seattle Networking Event featured guest speaker Lucy Helm, executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of Starbucks Coffee Company. Ms. Helm discussed how she has been empowered through the years by her mentors and the relationships she has built being a mentor. Attendees to the Seattle dinner included attorneys and executives from Starbucks Coffee Company, Microsoft, T-Mobile, Seed IP Law Group, AMN Healthcare and Perkins Coie.

“We were truly honored to host so many women industry leaders in our office,” said Maria Čulić Anderson, partner at Knobbe Martens’ Seattle office and member of the firm’s Diversity Committee. “Our hope is that our dinner offered insight and life examples to female attorneys through valuable networking and mentoring opportunities.”

Knobbe Martens has served as a host for this annual event since 2009. The firm also hosted this dinner in its Los Angeles office this year.
